BTE Desk : A seminar on “Collision Liability a brief review from Insurance context” was organized by Nautical Institute Bangladesh at Hotel serina, Banani, Dhaka on 31st May 2014. Mr. S.M. Moinul Islam, a member of Natical Institute presented key note paper. Ship owning and technical management have grown significantly in Bangladesh over past few years. As a result number of maritime casualties especially collision involving Bangladesh flag ships happened at Chittagong outer anchorage and other places have increased. The key note presenter has significant number of years of experience in handling collision incidents for ship owners and managers. The objective of the seminar was to dissemination of experience of handling collision incidents from insurance perspective to help support ship owners and managers in enhancing their knowledge. The paper also described the coverage of collision liability under Hull, Protection & Indemnity, FD&D insurance a ship owner or manager buys and various conventions that govern such liabilities and the limitation regimes.

The organizer NIDB  has claimed that the seminar was a success as appreciated by the participants.
